Mathias Nampoka

Nampoka was born in  1971 in Kibaha District 25 km West of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He belongs to the Makonde tribe. After Primary School he learned the art of wood-carving from his father. He still lives in Kibaha with his wife and three sons. His father died 2000.He works in Ebony (mpingo) and the motives are often Shetani. He participated in many exhibitions in Dar es Salaam for instance at the American Embassy.
